I can not say I'm surprised by this development. The article in Al-Arabiya said that al Qaeda seeks to smuggle weapons from Libya present in northern Mali, which probably means that at some point in Algeria, a country with its own radical Muslim, is likely to be crossed (a quick glance at the map of Africa should make that clear). And the Algerian authorities, I submit, are not bad to have concerns about what is happening in the east to Libya and Egypt.
